2021 Brancatelli Valle delle Stelle, Tuscany, Italy

2021 Brancatelli Valle delle Stelle, Tuscany, Italy

ABOUT THIS WINE

“Valle delle Stelle” - Valley of the Stars, the sky where this wine is produced is just a carpet of stars on a clear night. Shooting stars, lost on the horizon, fulfill the wish of a great wine.

Five of the estate’s 6 hectares of Cabernet are dedicated to this wine. Mineral rich clay soils with limestone and iron, less than one mile from the Mediterranean with a south, southeast exposure.

This wine is made from select grape varietals, cultivated with care in tenacious clayey soil. Vine age and soil type contribute to its unique character. The winemaking process involves soft stemming and pressing, followed by short cold maceration. Fermentation occurs in small, temperature-controlled steel vats, preserving the wine's delicate nuances. Aged in Allier oak barrels for 12 months, then blended and further matured in stainless steel tanks until bottling, with an additional 6 months of bottle aging for optimal flavor development. Certified organic farming, use of cover crops, green manures, sexual confusion, and the promotion of beneficial insects and mycorrhizal fungi.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Previously a chef and restaurateur, Giuseppe started from scratch with virgin land, organic from day one. Later joined by the famous winemaker from Sassicaia, Graziana Grassini, together they craft some of the most well-made and affordable Cabernet from the famous Maremma coast in Tuscany. In this tiny town of Riotorto, you will find a rural and rustic charm, expressed perfectly in this terroir driven wine.

Giuseppe Brancatelli has found an ideal footing for the classic French varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, in the clay and calcareous soils of the Val de Cornia. This southwestern part of Tuscany is a testament to the success these grapes varieties can achieve. Giuseppe started in the late 1990s with virgin land near the town of Riotorto, utilizing organic methods from the beginning. With the help of enologist Graziana Grassini, the winemaker for the famous Sassicaia, the Brancatelli wines are in a class of their own! Certified organic farming.
