2023 Domaine Cordier Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru "Les Reisses", Burgundy, France

2023 Domaine Cordier Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru "Les Reisses", Burgundy, France

ABOUT THIS WINE

“Les Reisses” is sourced from a Premier Cru-designated vineyard within the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation in southern Burgundy’s Mâconnais. The site is characterized by limestone-rich soils and excellent sun exposure, conditions that allow Chardonnay to achieve full ripeness while retaining freshness and structure.

The fruit is hand-harvested from mature vines, which produce naturally low yields and concentrated flavors. After gentle pressing, fermentation occurs with indigenous yeasts in a combination of stainless steel and neutral French oak barrels. The wine is then aged on its fine lees for several months, adding depth, texture, and subtle complexity while preserving the vineyard’s mineral signature.

The 2023 vintage highlights both the ripeness of the fruit and the tension derived from the site’s limestone soils. The result is a structured yet graceful Chardonnay that can be enjoyed young for its vibrant fruit but will continue to develop greater nuance with several years of cellaring. It pairs beautifully with lobster, scallops, roasted poultry, creamy risotto, or dishes featuring butter or light cream sauces.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Domaine Cordier is a highly regarded family estate in Burgundy’s Mâconnais, led by Christophe Cordier, whose work has helped elevate the reputation of the region’s terroir-driven Chardonnay. The domaine focuses on highlighting individual vineyard sites, particularly within Saint-Véran and Pouilly-Fuissé.

The estate practices sustainable viticulture with careful vineyard management, low yields, and meticulous harvesting to ensure optimal fruit quality. In the cellar, Cordier favors minimal intervention, native yeast fermentations, and thoughtful lees aging to enhance texture while allowing the distinct character of each vineyard to shine. These practices result in wines that balance richness with energy and clearly express the limestone terroirs of southern Burgundy.
