2023 Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot Puligny-Montrachet, Burgundy, France

2023 Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot Puligny-Montrachet, Burgundy, France

ABOUT THE WINE
Crafted from several village-level parcels in Puligny-Montrachet, this 2023 release reflects the domaine’s meticulous approach to vineyard care and traditional Burgundian winemaking. The vines, averaging 35–50 years old, are rooted in classic Puligny limestone-clay soils that impart finesse and minerality. The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, then gently pressed and fermented with indigenous yeasts. The wine undergoes aging in French oak barrels (about 20–25% new) for 10–12 months, allowing the fruit to shine while integrating subtle toasty notes. The cool 2023 growing season endowed the wine with vibrant acidity and aromatic lift, producing a Chardonnay that’s both elegant and expressive. Expect notes of citrus blossom, crushed shell, and a fine line of tension throughout. An ideal pairing for seafood, white asparagus, or creamy poultry dishes.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot is a respected name in Burgundy, rooted in both heritage and personal vision. A descendant of the renowned Boillot family of Volnay and formerly a winemaker at Olivier Leflaive, Jean-Marc established his own domaine in the late 1980s, uniting family vineyards across the Côte de Beaune. Today, the estate is managed by his daughter Lydie and grandson Benjamin, who carry forward a philosophy of precision and respect for terroir. The domaine is known for producing white Burgundies that emphasize clarity, elegance, and terroir expression, as well as refined, structured reds. With careful farming, moderate use of new oak, and a commitment to minimal intervention, Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot continues to craft wines that capture the soul of Burgundy with both tradition and finesse.
