2023 Pecchenino Langhe Chardonnay "Maestro", Piedmont, Italy

2023 Pecchenino Langhe Chardonnay "Maestro", Piedmont, Italy

ABOUT THIS WINE

Sourced from vineyards located in Bossolasco at an altitude of 700 meters in the Alta Langa area, the "Maestro" Chardonnay benefits from southeast-facing slopes and soils rich in limestone and white clay. The Guyot-trained vines, planted at a density of 5,500 plants per hectare, are harvested in the second week of September. Vinification involves natural fermentation, followed by aging on the lees in a combination of stainless steel and barrique, resulting in a wine that truly reflects its terroir.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Pecchenino is a family-owned winery with deep roots in the Langhe region of Piedmont, Italy. Established in the late 19th century, the estate has grown from its original 8 hectares to encompass 32 hectares, with vineyards in Dogliani and Monforte d'Alba. The Pecchenino family has been instrumental in the resurgence of viticulture in the Alta Langa area, particularly in the locality of Pezzea in Bossolasco, where they cultivate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay at high altitudes. Their commitment to sustainable farming practices and respect for the unique characteristics of their vineyards are evident in the quality and authenticity of their wines.
