2023 Château Pégau Côtes-du-Rhône "Cuvée Maclura", Rhône Valley, France
ABOUT THIS WINE
From the winemaker: " Born under an Osage orange tree, the Cuvée Maclura Côtes du Rhône calls for the greediness of the fruit revealing a blend of spices with delicate tannins. Designed with respect for the traditions of the south, this cuvée is like our grandmothers’ cuisine : generous and full of life."
Grapes are hand harvested from vineyards planted in deep, loamy soils covered in pebbles. They undergo whole-cluster fermentation. The classic blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault is fermented together for 10 to 14-day fermentation process using indigenous (native) yeasts. Winemakers perform two pump-overs per day to gently extract color and flavor. The wine is kept in enamel tanks until bottling Kindred Wines. It is entirely unoaked to emphasize the natural terroir and bright, fruit-forward characteristics Kindred Wines.
